[our little man]

Our lives have been forever blessed again... :)

William Paul Barber arrived yesterday morning (12-13-10) at 8:19 am via c-section. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and is 20.5 inches long. I could tell from the instant sparkle in daddy's eye once they got his precious little body out that Josh now had a son. :)

It is still up for debate who Will looks like, but he definitely has my/Keatin's nose.

Keatin was SO excited yesterday afternoon...both to see mommy & daddy, and to meet her Baby "Whale." (OK - I know that looks funny, but oh - it is adorable the way she says it.) :) She did a good job last night of being careful around mommy and being gentle with Will.

I am TIRED, but feel SO much better today than yesterday. Will and I have been hanging out all morning. He already got circumcised and has been pretty sleepy ever since.

I just keep looking over at his precious little face...wow, I am one blessed mommy. :)

Before we headed back to the OR yesterday morning...

Will is here...the pediatrician and nurses check him out!

When Keatin arrived, Will was under the warmer/heater. We got her a chair to stand on...and she was in awe. :)

The proud grandparents... :)

Mommy, Keatin, and Will...Keatin was giving me some kisses before she got ready to go home with Daddy.

Took these pics this morning...I think he is pretty good looking!

just the 3 of us...1 more day...

We are the Barber "3" for just one more day... :) SO exciting and nerve-racking at the same time... I am 39 weeks pregnant today...and will be a mommy of 2 SO soon!

God has produced the first big snowstorm of the winter to help us celebrate - ha ha! We are in a blizzard warning until tomorrow morning...VERY cold here, high winds, rain/ice earlier today, and now blowing snow everywhere. G & G Petersen and Grandma Barber are planning on coming to Ames tomorrow afternoon. Of course, we hope they can make it...but Josh and I both said tonight, it is NOT WORTH IT to have 3 of our parents all in a car together in bad weather. We would much rather they arrive SAFELY later on Monday to meet their new grand-baby. :) I guess only time will tell...

I think Keatin has sensed all week that something is about to change. We have talked about the new baby A LOT this week, and she keeps saying how "cited" (excited) she is. :)

Today, we joined Becca, Lyle, and Jack at an event at their church...live nativity, Christmas crafts, musical puppets for kids, and even cookie decorating. Keatin enjoyed it all and it was really nice to hang out with such good friends, celebrating the season and all we have to be thankful for. :) Enjoy the pics!

Keatin was all excited to see the animals at the live nativity...but of course, was scared once she got too close...go figure!

Josh, Keatin, Jack, and Lyle...and a bunny. :)

Inside, making a paper bag snowman with Becca...

Decorating cookies after lunch...they were yummy!

38 weeks

38 weeks pregnant today...kind of surreal to think about. :)

Keatin and I are just hanging this morning...Josh is at work. We are going to go shopping in a bit and she is going to pick out one girl and one boy outfit for her baby sister/brother to wear home from the hospital. I thought that would be special for her to know she picked it out. :)

I packed the baby's bag this morning, and will work on packing my own as well...I had 2 people at work yesterday tell me they didn't think I would make it until the 13th...so not sure if they know something I don't, but makes me wonder if I appear to other people HUGE and ready to be done! It is weird to tell the kids at school that I will be there one more week...and then I will be gone - AAHH! I haven't had the HORRIBLE carpel tunnel in my hands like I did with Keatin, but they have definitely been sore/more swollen the last week or so. Josh told me last night he didn't even recognize my fingers...thanks hon. :) But, I can say as I type this, it is hard to get them bent and in the right positions... I will be going to work sometime this weekend...still need to finish all the lesson plans for my sub when I am gone....nothing like waiting until the last minute, huh? :)

Hope you all have WONDERFUL weekends - I plan on enjoying my awesome family and some friends! :)

conversations

Just 2 bits of conversation to share for the day... :)

This morning, when I was back in my bathroom getting ready for school, this is the conversation I hear floating in from the kitchen...

Daddy - I have booger.
OK - go get a kleenex.
Daddy - you have booger?
No - I don't have any boogers...
Daddy - you have booger. I get you kee-nex too. :)

Aaahh - she is so helpful. :)

After lunch, I was walking 2 2nd grade boys to their classroom across the street (yes - we have a classroom across the street). It was misting, and one boy announced - "wouldn't it be funny if this rain was really like 500 people in the sky spitting on us???" Hmmm - I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that one...besides I preferred rain over spit! :)

we give thanks

We give thanks for this little angel... We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in SL with both families.

And we are also thankful for a healthy pregnancy that will be over soon...and although we haven't met him/her yet, we are SO thankful to be chosen as parents again and CANNOT wait to meet our new little blessing.

I give thanks for my husband as well... He is a wonderful man with a kind, caring heart. Everyone who calls Josh a friend is truly blessed...and he is my greatest friend of all. :)

Even though sometimes it may not feel like it...I am thankful for these little hands that "help" me with EVERYTHING around the house. :) When she was gone last week for a few nights, it was oddly quiet...and I didn't really like it. Keatin "helped" me put up one of our nativity sets this morning...I let her put all the pieces out where she wanted. I believe they are already strewn across the living room. :) Poor Mary and Jesus...I think Joseph and the animals were the only ones to make it inside the manger.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our family and friends!

I am 37 weeks pregnant today...and feeling more uncomfortable all the time...but hanging in there!

keatin = gone

Keatin is gone... :( Not going to lie...I am a little sad. And I realize I am probably more emotional about this because of being prego...I just miss her, and know our days as "mommy and daughter" are numbered. She is off to Storm Lake for an "early" Thanksgiving visit. Tomorrow, she will hang out with Grandma Barber and Great-Grandma Heeren...and on Wednesday, she will be with G & G Petersen. I know she will have a blast...she was really excited...I just miss her. I was kissing her before she left tonight...and she just leaned in and gave me a big one on the lips. :) Aaahh. :)

We had a busy weekend in Ames. Friday night, Bri and Tyler spent the night on their way to Marshalltown/Cedar Falls. Saturday, my parents came into town. Mom and I got pedicures (LOVED IT) and Josh/Dad did some serious football watching...went to church and out for supper...and Bri/Tyler came back late Saturday night (after bar hopping with friends) - they needed a place to sleep. Sunday morning, Bri and Tyler got up and left...and Jen/Joey were on their way to go to the CU/ISU Men's BB Game with Josh and Dad in Des Moines. Oh - and the doorbell rang and there stood Grandpa Barber...he was driving back to SL from the Quad Cities. He stopped for 15 minutes, and then was on his way back to work at the hospital. Jen and Joey showed up a bit later. 4 were off to the BB game, Mom went shopping, Keatin napped, and I did some school work! Whew! Oh - and Jen/Joey spent the night Sunday night, and stayed home with Keatin this morning just to play...and then took her to day care mid-morning in a swim diaper (apparently, Joey asked her which diapers/pullups mommy uses and she somehow pointed to the swim diapers that were shoved way up in the corner of her closet...seriously, would have liked to see that exchange). :) However, this did give our babysitter a really good chuckle...and me too. :)

Here is a picture I took of myself tonight - 36 weeks. The c-section is 3 weeks from today...actually, I will already have a baby by this point 3 weeks from now - AAHH! I have really been feeling/thinking/picturing a little boy the last couple weeks...not sure why, just the way it is... :) I go to the doctor on Wednesday...

Oh - and been meaning to invite everyone in all your "free" time...check out my counseling webpage at school. I have been working hard at keeping it updated - I might even create a school counseling blog at some point...we will see how much free time I have. :)

seriously????

I just pulled a load of laundry out of our dryer...threw the clothes outside of our laundry room door...came back around the corner, and look where the "queen" of our house had plopped herself... Seriously Crimson??? The CLEAN laundry??? Urgh. :)

Keatin woke up yesterday morning complaining that her ear hurt. After a trip to the doctor's office, she indeed has an ear infection. I hope this isn't an indication of how our winter is going to go...
