One week to go!

Josh and I went back to the doctor this morning...and we have one week to go! Everything was fine - baby still breech and heartbeat was around 140. We discussed the carpel tunnel and the doctor said if it was earlier in my pregnancy, he would probably suggest a steroid shot to help with the pain...but at this point, I know I just have one week and am going to do my best not to complain. Kind of makes everything hard though...like typing right now, my right hand is all numb and the thumb joint hurts. URGH!!!! :) We have to be at the hospital next Thursday at 10 am...

Our friends Bryan and Erika sent us a baby gift yesterday, so I made Josh try it on this morning...check out the pic below! (YES - for all of you who know, that is Birdie Buddy in the baby carrier - he he...) :)

2nd to last weekend....

It has been a busy week/weekend...our second to last one before Baby Barber arrives. Aaron and Trish came into town on Friday night...they spent all day yesterday visiting Aaron's brother Patrick in Ankeny. Becca and I went to Omaha for the day for Jen's last bridal shower, and Josh had to work...then went to that new Batman movie he had been dying to see. Last night, we went out for Mexican and Trish/Megan went to bed at 10...I heard Josh roll into bed after 2 - he and Aaron had been out for a night on the town. Below are a few pics - Lane and Crimson hanging out, and Josh/Lane relaxing with a nice, cold drink. :)

37 weeks and testing the new camera...

Josh and I got a new camera as a gift today, so he had to "fiddle" with the features and we are testing this video...in hopes that we will have LOTS of fun videos to upload once the baby arrives. :) This one is kind of silly - I like Josh's voice in the background, so make sure you have the sound up. :)

Josh's grandparents are in town today for a quick visit - they wanted to see the baby's room and apparently look at my stomach. :) Below is a picture I took a few hours ago of Josh and his grandparents picking cherries off our cherry tree - Grandma Heeren is going to take this bunch back to Illinois to make some jam. :)

Here is a pic Josh took of me about 30 minutes ago...I am 37 weeks today. Geez - this is a different angle of my stomach than I usually see! It is definitely feeling bigger by the day, and I am getting more and more ready to be done. Within the last week, the carpal tunnel in my hands has gotten a lot worse...but I am just trying to grit it out for the last 2 weeks (not that I have any other choice). :)

That is it for now - have to get back to the game of Phase 10 with Josh and his grandparents! :)

Megan had her baby!!!

Did I psych you out??? Ha ha... Megan had her baby...but not this Megan. :) Our friends, Todd & Megan Wilshusen, welcomed their son into the world yesterday - 7/18. Troy Matthew was born at 10:26 am...7 pounds, 9 ounces...19.5 inches. Megan and I had lunch together on Thursday (7/17) in Ankeny, so I must have given her the good vibes...her water broke that night! Josh and I went for a quick visit last night (at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines) and took both Troy and mom/dad some gifts. Below are 2 pictures of Baby Troy...do we look like naturals???? :)

Breech all the way... :)

Josh and I went to the doctor today for our ultrasound...and Baby Barber is still breech! The baby is in the frank breech position, which basically means his/her butt is wedged down in my pelvis and his/her feet/ankles are up by the ears...underneath the right side of my ribs. On the ultrasound, we tried to see the baby's face...but it kept getting blocked by the legs/feet. It didn't look like the most comfortable position! Below is a pic I took of one of the ultrasound pictures...kind of blurry, but in the center top of the image is the bottom of a foot.

SO...we have a c-section scheduled for Thursday, 8/7. We had been seeing a nurse midwife, but met the OB/GYN doctor today who will be doing the surgery...and that is who I will see in the upcoming weeks when I go in for my appointments. Now, if the baby flips before then OR if I do go into labor, plans will change...basically, if I go into labor, I need to head to the hospital and we will have an "emergency" c-section. He was very nice...and Josh even got to talk some sports with him. :)

That is Baby Barber's plan as of now. My mom was shocked when I told her...as I was in the same exact position in her uterus...kind of creepy, huh? It was fun to have another ultrasound, and really makes it hit home that the baby is almost here...3 weeks from tomorrow. I am still feeling pretty good for the most part, and go to some type of aerobics class every day. In the last week or so, I have noticed some slight swelling in my feet and hands...and both my hands and feet are REALLY sore when I wake up in the mornings....not sure why. Anyways, hope everyone is enjoying their summer...not sure where the time has gone!

July 10th...

Just wanted to share a picture of Josh and I over the 4th of July weekend in SL. We had a great time...but we were definitely tired when we made it back to Ames. Sleeping has been getting more difficult for me at night time - just awake a lot, and up going to the bathroom. Oh well - like they say, it is the prep for when the baby comes! :) We have our childbirth class this Saturday, and then off to Okoboji until Monday!
