(us)

This is (us) over the last week...

Will has a new love for playing on Keatin's bed. I believe Josh plops Keatin & Will on her bed in the mornings while he is trying to get ready. Apparently, falling off several times does not deter Will. :)

We have dug out some old cell phones. These are now Will's phones. Do not even think about touching them. :)

This was one day after nap...Keatin was apparently not alone in the bathroom. :)

Josh was gone for awhile after work last Thursday night. Sometimes being alone on a weeknight can be horrible...but Keatin and Will were actually in pretty good spirits on this particular evening. I was getting supper together, and Keatin kept yelling at me to come see her "road." The couch cushions and pillows were her road. :)

I am not kidding...we can't leave this kid alone anywhere!!!

 Friday evening... :)

Josh had to work Saturday morning, so I decided to take Keatin and Will to an indoor play area in Ankeny. We met 2 co-workers of mine there...so between the 3 moms, we were watching 7 small children. Kind of crazy at times, but Keatin LOVED it and I think Will enjoyed it for the most part too!

(The only picture I could catch of Keatin - she was moving too fast! She is playing with my co-worker's daughter Ava.)

Saturday night...the Carlsons rolled into town! They spent the night and the kids played all morning today!

And that is (us). :)

today

Today is my 31st birthday - woot-woot. :) Josh, Keatin, and Will gave me this last night...
...I think I am in love. :)

But today is also Ash Wednesday (not sure if my birthday has ever landed on Ash Wednesday before)...which is the start of Lent. I came across this post last night...and it just really spoke to me and inspired me on my own lenten journey for 2012.

It was a crazy, busy day at work...my feet hurt and I am tired...but I also kind of feel rejuvenated today...ready to tackle my 31st year and ready to celebrate Lent as we look forward to Easter (which happens to land on my mom's birthday this year - ha!).

14 months and 3.5 years

I am a bit late typing this up, but realized over the weekend that my baby was 14 months old on Feb. 13th and Keatin celebrated her "1/2" birthday at preschool on Feb. 7th...they are getting SO old! :)

Will, at 14 months you...

Wear size 3 diapers...but once they are out, I am moving up to size 4.
Wear 18 months clothes. Some of the shirts are "belly shirts" on you, but you are forever walking on the cuffs of your pants. :)
And speaking of walking...you have been doing this since right around 13 months. And really I shouldn't say walking...I should say RUNNING. You are fast and busy...all over the place, all the time! I still love watching you come around the corner of the living room, down the hallway into the kitchen...seems like just yesterday you were crawling around that same corner. :)
No bottles, all sippy cups for you. Not a tear was shed when I took the bottle away...I pretty sure you didn't even notice. You drink milk and still prefer to have it a bit warmed up vs. cold out of the fridge...but we are working on that. :) I gave you some watered-down apple juice over the weekend...you drank it down!
Have 6 teeth for sure...and probably more like 8...I think you have 2 molars in the back that you don't always let me get my fingers on. :)
Go to bed around 8 and get up between 6-7 am. Nap 2 times a day.
Signing "please" and saying MAMA, DADA, BA-BYE, and a whole slew of other jibberish. :)
You make the MOO sound for a cow and the BABA sound for a sheep.
You can point to various body parts when we ask you where they are...like your nose and head.
L-O-V-E to play chasing games with your daddy and sister.
Doing so many "boy" things that I don't think Keatin EVER did...examples: throwing EVERYTHING, diving off furniture, hitting mommy in the face, and destroying all toys/games Keatin tries to play on the floor. Keatin and I call you Will-a-saurus.
But when you are tired, you are SO cuddly...way more than Keatin was. Give you your blanket, pacifier, and someone's arms to lay in...and you are a happy man!
Obsessed with anything electronic - cell phones, remotes, computers, i-pods, wii remotes...just a few examples. :) Daddy says it means you will be an IT guy some day. :)
AAHH - we love you little man. :)

Keatin, at 3.5 years you...

Wear 4T clothes and size 8 shoes.
Go to bed a little after 8 and get up between 6-7 am. You still nap most days in the afternoons, but could go a day here or there without a nap...but definitely not 2 days in a row. :)
Attend preschool 2 days mornings a week...and LOVE it. :) You ask EVERY DAY (including weekends) if it is a preschool day. :)
Such a good big sister. :) As Will has gotten older, there have been more conflicts...but for the most part, you are so loving, thoughtful, caring, and just "mother-ing." You are so good about clapping when he accomplishes something and you change the pitch of your voice. I can just hear you right now saying "good job buddy!" :)
LOVE to help mommy and daddy cook/bake.
In the fall, you were OBSESSED with Tangled. You still like it, but have recently become more obsessed with Dora.
Say the sweetest things sometimes. :) Just the other day out of the blue, you said - Mom, I like you. You are a nice mommy.
Write your name unassisted. (NOTE: only when you are in the right mood.) :)
Really enjoy "table" activities like: coloring, writing, painting, stickers, play-doh, dry-erase boards, cutting, gluing, and stencils.
Can recite prayers by yourself.
Think you are hot stuff because you can buckle your carseat all by yourself.
If you wake up early in the morning when you hear me get in the shower, you quietly lay in the hallway on your blanket (in the dark) until I am done in the shower. Then I almost trip over you every time. :) You then like to sit on the toilet in my bathroom and watch cartoons on my computer while I get ready.
We love you big girl...you challenge us, but also make our hearts smile with pride. :)

friday

Happy Friday! To get you through your last work day of the week, here are a few pictures from our house this week...

Since Will is getting older, we have started to accumulate more trucks, cars, and tractors. So, the other night, I decided to make a "road" for Keatin and Will to drive our various vehicles on. Keatin LOVED it...she and I had fun driving on the road for about 5 minutes...see picture below for explanation why this activity lasted all of 5 minutes. :)

In Josh's words - good idea...not with a 1 year old. :)

And a happy moment for me this week - Will was trying to mimic the word "please!" He signs please all the time but on this particular evening, he was actually trying to make the sounds! Yipee for Will!

Have a happy weekend! The Barbers are selling one car today, and buying another one tomorrow - Josh Barber's dream. :)

I came across this today...I liked it. :)

a funny for your monday

Just a funny from the Barber household for your Monday...

This morning when Keatin woke up, she stumbled out to the kitchen with her blankets. I scooped her up, gave her some hugs, and said "good morning." She was cuddling on my shoulder and below is the conversation that followed.

K - (whispering) Hey mom, you know what I was doing in my bed?
M - What honey? (thinking she was going to say sleeping or laying quiet or something like that)
K - Tooting. (big smile)

I died laughing. :) Josh told her that was a good spot to do her tooting. :)

(hi)

WILL...

...and KEATIN...

...just wanted to say hi. :)

snowy omaha

Now that it is almost a week ago, I am FINALLY getting the pictures up...urgh, that just describes my week!

We were in snowy Omaha last weekend...G'ma Barber had a BIG, BIG birthday we needed to celebrate. :)

And while we were there, it snowed...and snowed...and snowed! Like 10 inches worth of snow!

Keatin didn't mind at all - she was able to play outside 3 different times! We had to cancel/reschedule some of our birthday plans, but everything worked out great in the end.

We stayed at Jen & Joey's house, but headed over to Bri & Tyler's house on Saturday morning for a birthday breakfast...and of course, to play in the snow. While daddy, grandma, Bri, Tyler, and Keatin were outside building a snowman...

...Will and I watched from the window.

Grandpa Barber came stayed inside for the most part as well, and even let Will try on his hat. Handsome boy, huh? :)

Jen & Joey have a big bay window in their living room...a perfect spot for coloring. :)

As Will was napping on Sunday morning, Keatin insisted on heading back outside...and shoveling...like she wanted to shovel. Who WANTS to shovel? :)

Jen, Joey, and Keatin played outside for probably 45 minutes! They shoveled...

...threw snow...

...and even buried Joey in the snow!

Not sure if it was the aunt or uncle, but later Keatin told me her favorite part of our trip was licking the snow...hmm, who showed her that. :)

We had a great weekend - we were 4 tired puppies Sunday night!
