Bathing Beauty

I may have a little bathing beauty on my hands...

Wonder where she would pick up on that habit??? :) :)

On Friday afternoon, we went to the pool in Nevada with Becca for about an hour. It was hot, but Keatin was a trooper and seemed to enjoy splashing and crawling around in the water. She even said "hi" to all the "big kids" playing in the water. :)

Keatin and Becca getting a closer look at the fountain... We are both SO lucky to have such a fun friend!

Swimming and sun bathing works up an appetite!

Today, during a "basement break," I convinced Josh that we should go to Peterson Pit for a picnic lunch. Peterson Pit is a lake (for lack of a better word) north of Ames. I was a frequent flyer in years past, but this was the first time I was out there this summer. Again, we had fun in the sun with Miss Keatin! She wasn't so sure what she thought of the sand at first, but was okay after a bit.

Again...a snack break... "Here mommy - you try one!"

Have a great week!

Too Funny!

This video is TOO funny not to share...I laughed and cried watching it! Has nothing to do with Keatin or my family...got it passed on to me and for all of you who love weddings or are looking for a unique wedding idea...this is it! Happy Friday!

"Vacation" is over

It is Sunday night...and Josh's "vacation" is officially over tomorrow morning when he heads back to work. Although we have worked our butts off the last week in the basement, Keatin and I were so happy to have him around all the time and I know one little girl who will miss her "de-da" a lot!

We had a nice weekend... This is Keatin yesterday morning...as always...wanting to "help" mom with the laundry. :)

Troy Wilshusen turned 1 on Saturday...where has this last year gone?????? Keatin and I went to Des Moines for his party for a few hours. I took notes...I am thinking of steering away from dark frosting on Keatin's cake... :)

As always, Keatin was "helping" in the kitchen again tonight. The dishwasher has always intrigued her...and she loves to stand next to it and lift her little leg up to try and get on the door. Tonight??? Mission accomplished! (And only a little BBQ sauce on her bottom!)

I have a cute video of Keatin with a new toy from G & G Barber...will try to get it uploaded tomorrow!

Okoboji

Josh, Keatin, and I headed off to Okoboji on Tuesday morning to spend a few days with my grandma/family...and to take a break from working in the basement! We had a nice time and although the weather was not that warm, we were able to take Keatin to beach on Wednesday afternoon and Josh was able to golf! We were back in the basement today and got a lot accomplished...it is starting to look like real living space! Not sure Josh will let me post pics or not, as he wants it to be a surprise...but I will try to sneak a few!

Traveling and sleeping well do not go hand in hand, hence Josh and Keatin on the couch Wednesday morning in Okoboji...

We hit the beach with Keatin on Wednesday afternoon. She was not sure what she thought of the water and sand at first, but then she REALLY warmed up to it and even was walking back and forth between Josh and I in deep water...so fun!

Doesn't it just look like we are having a conversation???? I love it!

Walking??????????

OK...not really, but so fun to watch her stagger her way behind this thing! The push toy is Keatin's early b-day present from Mom and Dad...she is still a bit tentative, but seems to enjoy it!

Our "vacation!"

Josh has been on "vacation" since last Friday, and guess what we have been doing to relax? Working on the basement! This "vacation" has been by our choice and in all honesty, it has been fun to see progress every day. We are actually headed out to Okoboji this morning to spend a couple days with my grandma/family - should be a nice break, and I hope Josh gets to go golfing once or twice. We are excited to take Keatin in the sand/lake! More pictures when we get back! :)

Finally remembered to buy Keatin a toothbrush...she loves it! Such a good girl...she will just sit there with her mouth open while I brush her teeth! :)

Here are a few pics of the MAN CAVE Josh took on Sunday night after he had finished spraying the walls/ceiling with that texture stuff. But even yesterday and this morning, he primed the walls and ceiling so looks so different from these already! I have been on door painting duty...and have completed 4 doors and frames. :)

Oh - and Keatin wanted to help paint too! :) (This was actually after a WAY TOO SHORT nap and we were trying anything to entertain her.) :)

Old and New...

Old and new things this week at the Barber house! "Old" friends came for a short visit on Tuesday - Megan and Troy. I love watching these 2 play together - they are so similar is some ways, yet so different! Troy will be turning 1 on July 18th...about 3 weeks before Keatin. On Tuesday, we took the kiddos out in the backyard to splash around in the pool for awhile. They wore matching swim diapers. :)

"New" things that happened - Keatin and I went to Jessica's house (our day care provider) to meet baby Xavier! He was born on June 12th, so it was about time to stop in and play for a bit! I was happy to see Keatin recognized Jessica right away and even crawled around in her lap while I held Xavier. But I think Keatin has a lot to learn about how to treat a little baby...they don't appreciate all those "love taps!"

Other "new" things...AAHH, the kitchen is such an exploration playground for Keatin. On Tuesday, she discovered the cupboard with all the pots in it...

On Wednesday, it was the open fridge!!! AAAHHH!

Rainy Day...

I realized it has been awhile since I posted a video...so here is 1 from today! It is rainy and dreary in Ames...Keatin and I are trying to keep ourselves entertained inside. In the video, Keatin is talking...this is mild compared to what it is sometimes. I had another video, but is apparently too large to upload. Will try to re-do it later, but it was of Keatin displaying her new trick...climbing on furniture - yipee! Gotta run...I can hear her in the kitchen right now participating in her other new favorite activity - pulling everything out of the lower cabinets. Gotta baby-proof those! :)

Fourth of July

Hope everyone had a nice Fourth of July weekend! I CANNOT believe the 4th of July has come and gone - what happened to my summer off??? AAHH!

Our weekend started on Thursday night when Aaron, Trish, Lane, and Cedar rolled into Ames for the night. Aaron was helping roof a house over the weekend, so they stayed the night before Trish and Lane headed on to Norwalk. Keatin liked having a friend at the house to play with and it was just fun to see how the 2 kids are alike/different.

On Friday night, we headed to SL! Our good friends Becca and Lyle joined us for the trip and we all road to SL together in Lyle's truck. The back seat had a car seat and DVD player, and the bed of the truck had 3 sets of golf clubs, one bike, one stroller, a couple pieces of luggage...oh yeah, and a big green tarp because it was RAINING! We looked hilarious packing up and driving away!

Lyle and I did the Ride and Run together on Saturday morning since my usual partner (Jen) was on her honeymoon in Jamacia. This was his first time ever doing the race, but I think he enjoyed it...and enjoyed finishing faster than usual! :) Here we are being cheeseballs before the race started...I will spare you the nasty, sweaty "after" pictures. :)

Becca and Keatin at Barber's house on Saturday evening when the sun FINALLY came out - so frustrating!

A family picture on the 4th of July...

Keatin and Crimson say HAPPY 4TH!!!!

Did I mention it was raining and cloudy and cold ALL DAY on the 4th of July until like 6 pm???? URGH! We had big plans to go boating, take Keatin in the lake, etc... Daddy did get Keatin's toes in the water after he fixed the dock...she seemed to enjoy it, although it was COLD!!!

Beach babe...and another ear infection :(

After lots of tugging on her ears last week and me just hoping it was because she was teething, Keatin started running a fever on Sunday afternoon...we headed to the doctor on Monday afternoon with a 101 degree fever and was not surprised when he said she had another ear infection. SO...we are on antibiotics for that again...URGH. I can tell it really bothers her...and on top of that, LOTS of green snot...which yesterday morning appeared in a big green clump in her hair (Josh thought that was pretty nasty). :) She has been sleeping OK and at times seems happy enough...but also WAY more crying than usual. We will keep plugging away!

Yesterday, after waking up CRYING from her nap, I decided we needed a change of scenery...so got the beach babe ready and we headed to the pool! OK - it is just a little one in the backyard, but Keatin seemed to enjoy it nonetheless! Of course, the sun went under the clouds shortly after we got outside, but it was fun for the 30 minutes while it lasted!

Sporting the bikini Grandma Barber bought...

Daddy said I had to include this picture :)

Was a gorgeous night, so Daddy took Keatin out in the backyard for awhile... He became a jungle gym. :)

She loves her dad. :)

So I bought this chair at a garage sale awhile ago, but hadn't pulled it out until yesterday - what was I thinking! She loves it!

Just this morning...still in our jammies, just got done with breakfast. I KNOW this is wrong on so many levels, but this is Keatin absolutely glued to the TV and her Baby Einstein DVD. Oh my gosh...does she look like someone else I know who sits and watched DVD's for hours on end??????? AAAHH! Not kidding though...I jumped in the shower even and when I got out, this is exactly where she was still sitting. I am creating a monster!!! (But a pretty cute one if I have to say so myself.) :)
