silly fun

We headed to Cedar Falls on Saturday to see and hang out with Aaron, Trish, Lane, and Emerie.

And let me tell you...these kids had LOTS and LOTS of silly fun.

I've decided if we lived in the same town, our kids would be BFF's. :) And even though we don't, I just love watching these 3 (or 4 when Will joined in the fun) play together. Keatin and Emerie did lots of girly things this time around (I think Emerie was at just the right age to listen to everything Keatin "suggested" they do...much to Keatin's delight). See evidence of silly fun below. :)

Keatin and Lane, modeling Lane's football helmets.

This is when I suggested I get a picture of the girls in all their "pretty" things. One little picture turned into this...

...and this.

And just when I thought I had convinced Lane we would take a boy picture next, he flew in front of my camera. :)

Ah - the prettiest, sweetest girls. :)

There are the handsome boys!

This morning, after all children were up shortly after 6 am, it was time for breakfast at the picnic table.

Before we headed back to Ames, we stopped at Josh's family friends - Rick and Marilyn Schmitz. Josh grew up with their family...I think he would describe their 4 kids like his own brothers and sisters. Keatin and Will did great at their house, and Keatin was calling Marilyn "grandma" by the time we left! :) Somehow, although both our children were super tired and it was a very cold, windy 40 degrees outside, Josh and Rick thought we better take a look at their 4 wheeler...and not just look, take it for a few spins. Here are Josh and Will...

...and Josh and Keatin.

Thanks Schmitz's for the hospitality!

Here is hoping everyone has an enjoyable, great week!

what we were up to...

...a few nights last week. I think the Barbers will have lots of fun in the sun this summer - can't wait. :)

stay-home day

As Keatin would say, it was a stay-home day today.

It was cold and rainy...but warm with playing, singing, reading, and coloring inside. :)

Both kids took good naps, Josh tried to nap, and I worked, worked, worked on my license renewal class (such a procrastinator)...and did something like 308 loads of laundry.

As of 8:09 pm, I had my jammies on and both kids were in bed. (I can still hear Keatin singing "This Little Light of Mine" - she sings herself to sleep most nights).

Josh and I are going to watch Transformers...or at least start it (2.5 hours long??? Not this tired lady).

I loved this day.

[Easter Weekend]

We headed back to Storm Lake on Friday afternoon to celebrate Easter with our families. We were able to see all of our immediate family and even Great-Grandma Petersen! In addition, Grandma Petersen's birthday was on Easter and Aunt Jen's birthday is on Wednesday...so we were able to throw in two mini-birthday celebrations. The Easter Bunny was VERY kind to Keatin and Will...he must love them a lot. :) Below are some snapshots of our time...

Saturday morning when Will was napping, Keatin got to dye Easter eggs. She enjoyed "painting" them (her words). :)

These are the crazy squirrels that live outside my mom and dad's house...

After Will woke up from his morning nap, we headed to see the Easter Bunny. Last year, we got the cutest pictures of Will...and Keatin refused to get on his lap. This year, Keatin did a great job...and Will was very uncertain.

My favorite. :)

Saturday evening, we headed over to G & G Barber's house for supper and an Easter Egg hunt. The Easter Bunny brought Keatin the cutest Dora swimsuit...which she promptly put on. :)

Will tried to shove all the plastic eggs in his mouth...shock.

Josh, Will, and Uncle Tyler...doing "boy things." (AKA - sitting on the couch, watching TV) :)

Sunday morning after church, the Easter Bunny FINALLY woke up and hid eggs around G & G Petersen's house!

Before our Easter feast, we were able to capture of few pictures down by the lake...it was a bit windy, but got a few cute ones!

Hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter celebrating with family and friends!
