Happy Birthday!

Today is my 27th birthday - aaahhhh! So old! Both my parents and my friend Becca got me some maternity clothes for my birthday - my first items of anything with the label "maternity." The shirts still look baggy on me, but I might need some of the pants within the next couple weeks. Josh and I are going to see Aaron and Trish in Cedar Falls tonight, and go to the Old Navy Maternity in Waterloo tomorrow - Josh is so excited. :)

On a funny note, I started my day by picking up our PE teacher on the side of the road on my way to school...I recognized his car amidst the piles of smoke coming from the hood. Would have been a COLD walk for him the 15 additional miles he still had before making it to State Center...

Anyways, now I am officially 27 - the same age my mom was when she had me... :)

Valentine's Day...

On the morning of this Valentine's Day, I got to start off my day by feeling like I was going to get sick. This was really the first time I had felt a wave of nausea so strong. I had my coat on, literally ready to walk out the door and I quickly took it back off and ran into the bathroom. Sat there for about 5 minutes, nothing happened...but I felt yucky. Off to school I came, and one of the first teachers I walked by told me I didn't look like I felt too well - oh, the joys of being pregnant. I have felt better as the day has gone on, but seriously - that wave came out of NOWHERE.

On a happier note, Josh drove over to school and surprised me with a Valentine's Day lunch of Jimmy John's, fresh pineapple, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. We were just sitting down to eat, and...the fire alarm went off! I sprang out of the office, followed by my husband whose eyes turned into saucers as he saw the chaos of 300 elementary students in the midst of a fire alarm. If you are lucky enough not to live in the Midwest, remember - it is barely above 0 degrees right now and we had many K-1 students trying to change out of their snowpants/coats. I saw one kindergarten teacher carrying a student under each arm. Luckily, they only had to be outside for about 5 minutes...as my principal, janitor, Josh, and I ran around the building looking for the sensor that had been triggered. Needless to say, I bet Josh never expected so much excitement on his Valentine's Day lunch trip to West Marshall!

I am 14 weeks along today - only 26 more to go! :)

We are expecting!!! :)

Josh and I have kept our lips sealed long enough...sometime this August, we are going to be parents!!! We traveled to Storm Lake last weekend and under the disguise of a February Birthday Party (Dee's b-day was the 6th, I am the 22nd, and my dad is the 24th), Josh and I broke the news to both sets of grandparents and Aunt Bri (Aunt Jen and Uncle Joey have known for over a month).

Why them and nobody else you might ask? Just the little detail that our baby is due around the same time as their wedding. God certainly had a plan for us in this one, and maybe he just wanted August 2008 to be the hap, hap, happiest month the Petersen family has had in a long time! :) Joking aside, I just felt to be fair to Jen, I had to tell her. Josh and I truly know that in our hearts, we are going to do EVERYTHING in our power to be at that wedding...and I feel content in that. No reason to hash out all the details until the time gets closer, but I have already came to terms with the fact I will be one VERY large woman regardless of whether I am a 9-month pregnant lady or a new mother. I am okay with this - everybody is going to be BLOWN AWAY by Jen's beauty anyways, so they won't notice me...right?

I am 13 weeks along...almost 14. I have been to the doctor 2 times already, and everything appears in order. Some of you I have talked to in the last 13 weeks...some of you I have seen in person. Josh and I just felt very strongly about telling our own parents before we shared the news with anyone else...but now we can't shut up! :) Enjoy this Blogspot – not too much to look at yet (I included a few pics), but I promise to update it periodically with doctor’s updates, crazy pregnancy stories, etc…bookmark the page! We love you all!

Love, Mommy Megan

A photo I took of our ultrasound from 7 weeks (6 weeks old now)...kind of blurry, I know but I kept forgetting to scan it in at work!

The first baby gift we received from Jen and Joey...Joey (whose parents had twins when he was 16 years old) spoke from LOTS Of experience and told us we absolutely COULD NOT LIVE without these - ha ha! :)

The bib Bri sent us in the mail - we love it!

Look at the surprise gift my husband gave me when we broke the news to our parents! I have a feeling we will be collecting a lot of dueling sports team outfits... :)
