Still battling the ear infection...

Took Keatin back to the doctor yesterday afternoon (as she was still tugging on her right ear a lot after being on medicine for 10 days)...and her ear is still really infected. SO...we are on stronger antibiotics now and hopefully that will help clear the infection up! She has been happier and more like herself the past week, but can tell the ear is still bothering her at times.

We have been battling frigid temperatues and lots of snow in Iowa... This is how my work week went last week:
MONDAY - dismissed at 11:00 because of snow
TUESDAY - late start
WEDNESDAY - no school
THURSDAY - no school
FRIDAY - late start

It was nice to be home during the week my daughter was sick...so it worked out well for me! :) Enjoy the recent pics and videos - hope everyone is doing well!

Talking to Daddy...

I SWEAR she was babbling WAY more before the camera came out...oh well - you get the idea! :)

First Antibiotics...

Well...Miss Keatin is on her first round of antibiotics. She had redeveloped her cough/runny nose over the weekend. On Monday, I had an early dismissal from school because of the weather and when Keatin woke up from her afternoon nap, she had a 102 degree fever. SO...we went to the pediatrician's office that night...had to get her oxygen levels checked and her blood drawn...but all that came back ok and she is being treated for an ear infection in her right ear. (Oh - and she weighs 15 1/2 pounds now!) Needless to say, it has been a tiring last couple days... I stayed home yesterday morning with her, and Josh came home in the afternoon. She has had moments of being her normal self...and moments where she just cries. Poor thing...I now know what all those parents mean when they say they would do anything to take away their child's pain...I certainly felt helpless. I am hoping as the next couple days go by, she just continues to feel more like herself. She has kept Josh and I awake the last 2 nights coughing...luckily, it doesn't seem to wake her up too much. We are beat though!

I have a late start for school again this morning, but of course they don't call to tell me until I am already up in the shower...oh well. SO...I thought I would update the blog quick before Keatin is up. I have included some recent pictures below...pre-sickness. :) Have a great week!

This is Keatin wearing the t-shirt Grandpa Barber gave her on the day she was born...

She has discovered a love for the TV remote and our cell phones. Here she is messing with the remote...what a "devil" look!

Practicing standing up!

Practicing sitting up...we are not quite there yet... :)

Keatin and Troy Wilshusen...Megan and Troy came for a visit on Sunday afternoon. It was fun to see Troy and see how the babies are alike/different!

First post of the New Year - 2009!

Happy New Year! Today was a dose of reality for me...back to work. I was spoiled over break, spending so much time with Keatin. Although there were no tears this morning, it was kind of like starting over all over again...

We certainly enjoyed our break, spending time with family and friends. The Barber family didn't attend any big parties to ring in the new year...just hung out at home. On New Years Day, we were up early and ready to watch the Hawkeyes win their bowl game! Below is a family pic in our Hawkeye gear...Keatin is a Hawkeye cheerleader! :)

Keatin has become quite the rolly-polly. She can roll clear across the living room...given that she doesn't run into anything, anyone, or any dog. :) I am preparing myself for when she starts to crawl - yikes! She LOVES to be on the floor now...

Here is a video of daddy and Keatin, just playing around... Her dad is quite in love with her and I can usually find them doing something silly together. :)

We took this video last night in the bathtub. Daddy DOES NOT like showing the private parts, but we just HAD to show you how Keatin loves to kick in her bath water. Lately, she has been giving me a bath as I try to wash her off!

Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our family and friends! :)

Silver, shiny wrapping paper

I FINALLY got these videos to upload!

Keatin LOVED all the gifts she received for Christmas...but MAY have enjoyed the wrapping paper and bows more - ha ha! Here she is at G & G Barber's house...this was the first of many gift-opening sessions...

Basketball Hoop

One of Keatin's favorite gifts was the basketball hoop mommy and daddy gave her! (Actually, daddy had no idea this present was under the tree and I believe he was more excited than Keatin to test it out!) So cute... :) (Oh...and by the way...please disregard Keatin's clothes...daddy dressed her.) :)

Reading with Jen/Joey

Keatin LOVES to read books...and here is a video of her reading with Jen/Joey over Christmas... They look like natural parents, don't they? :)
