Jan. 25th - Tubes

As of about 8 am this morning, Keatin has new ears! OK...don't know about that...but she did have surgery to put tubes in both ears. Total time spent at the hospital was just under 3 hours...and it really wasn't as bad as what I think I pictured in my mind. The hardest part was right after surgery, when a nurse carried Keatin back to us...you could hear her crying down the hallway...and she was just still so drugged up...that was hard...but as minutes ticked by, it got better and better.

She was exhausted when we got home...and napped for awhile. I ran to Target to get her prescription while she slept...and of course, also had to pick up a Happy Surgery gift for Keatin. :) I found a small pack of Sesame Street books...just like her Mickey Mouse books that she is obsessed with...I couldn't resist! Keatin spotted them as soon as she got up from her nap...and yipee - loves them! (In fact, I just got Keatin to lay down again for another snooze...and she wouldn't let go of 2 of the new books...they are in her bed with her.)

She seems to be adjusting just fine and for the most part, is acting like herself! Thanks to everyone who was praying for Keatin this morning. Let's pray this procedure eliminates the infections!

Oh...and shock...it is snowing and blowing AGAIN today. School actually got canceled...even though I took the day off anyways!

Enjoy the pics!

In our waiting room at the hospital this morning...the kind nurse thought this wagon might entertain Keatin...it worked for one pull down the hallway. :)

Daddy and Keatin in the OR holding room...right before she was taken in for surgery.
Back at home...after she woke up from her morning nap...LOVING her new Sesame Street books!

Finally got Keatin out of her jammies and into some clothes...and of course, she asked to watch "Mi-tee" (Mickey Mouse). He he...look at Daddy watching with her. :) Keatin was set...new books, juice, and cheerios.

Barbers/Anthones

The Barbers and Anthones were together this weekend...FINALLY! We haven't been with Jen & Joey since we were in Omaha at the beginning of November. They came to Ames on Friday night, the 4 adults went to the ISU/KU BB game on Saturday afternoon, and otherwise...we just did a lot of hanging out and playing! (Well...and a few hours playing video games if your name is Josh or Joey.) :) We are SO grateful they came...and Keatin was thoroughly entertained by her kid-at-heart Uncle Joey. :)

I didn't really get too many pics...guess we were too busy playing! I know Jen took some of Keatin wearing Joey's "The Mayor" ISU jersey...if she e-mails them, I will get them up and posted on the blog.

Say a prayer for Keatin tomorrow morning around 730 am...she will be having surgery and getting tubes in her ears.

ICED IN

I was home from school yesterday..."iced" in. It was great! But again...not so great in June when I will want to be enjoying the summer with Keatin.

We did lots of playing and cleaning...Keatin is very into "helping" me clean. If I give her a rag or wipe, she will "wipe" and "clean" things for me. Yesterday, it was the picture frames by my bed...they are little...they hold infant pictures of her...and she wiped those things OVER and OVER and OVER again! She would wipe...then kiss the baby...wipe, then kiss the baby. This "job" entertained her for A LONG time. Selfishly, I was able to get my house cleaned in the process!

I was not a slave driver all day. :) We did play in the basement a lot too. Keatin loved when we turned her slide into a tent...and she learned to slide down the thing head first. Oh boy!

Tubes, Guitars, and Dogs

First and foremost, Keatin will be getting tubes in both ears one week from tomorrow. It is an outpatient surgery done at Mary Greeley here in Ames. I don't like to think about that actual day too much...but am anxious to have it over with and pray it helps drastically with her ear infections and speech development.

On Friday night, I finally broke down...and for the 1st time in my life, played Guitar Hero (and I must say, I wasn't too shabby). :) But that is besides the point! The hilarious part was when Keatin joined in with her teal blue inflatable guitar (a gift from my wonderful secretary at school). Daddy got one picture of us playing our guitars...it really was funny...daddy started singing along to "Livin' On A Prayer"...and Keatin joined in on the "Ooooh, Ooooh" parts. :)

Last night was my staff Christmas party...I know, a little late. :) Anyways, Bri and Tyler graciously came to Ames for the night to watch Miss Keatin for us! They had a whopping 2 hours of actual babysitting to do before Keatin went to bed...but the report was that everything went smoothly! Got a few pics while they were in Ames...and of course the highlight was the fact Tyler brought his 2 doggies. :) Keatin was obsessed... They are great dogs...and even got Crimson to run around a bit! (She has been passed out all afternoon.) :)

Here are Tyler and Keatin this morning...she is going through a phase where she loves cuddling up next to people with her little Mickey Mouse books. She backs into you like a slow moving truck. :)

This happened a few times this weekend...Keatin helping Bender and Lilly escape.

Bri and Keatin on the bed this morning...Bri was teaching her how to bounce on the bed - great! Then Lilly and Bender had to join in the fun...which pleased Keatin!

Another 1st for Keatin tomorrow morning...dentist appointment at 8 am!

Teeth!

Our "baby" now has 15 teeth!!!

In an overly crabby moment at the supper table tonight, I felt Keatin's gums...and discovered she has 3 new teeth! Her 2 upper cuspids and left lower cuspid are sharp, little razors...poking through!

Sigh...she is growing up!

PS - Wish us luck...tomorrow we have an ENT appointment to discuss the possibility of Keatin getting tubes.

NWMSU Bearcats!

2010/New Year's Day...off to Maryville, MO we went!

Josh graduated from NWMSU and our good friend Ben is now the head men's BB coach there. We spent the weekend with Ben and his family...Michelle, Peyton, and baby Tate (who is 8 months old but as you will see from the pictures...is the same size as Keatin). We were able to see Ben coach the Bearcats to victory on Saturday afternoon...and otherwise, just spent a lot of time playing and hanging out. It was a wonderful visit and SO good to see our old friends. :)

Here are some pics of the kiddos!
