24 weeks

Happy Monday morning! I was sound asleep when Josh kicked me to wake up this morning...which doesn't usually happen! And I left the house before Miss Keatin had even woken up...I peeked in several times, and could hear her snoring away...she must have been tired too!

Not much else to report... I don't think I even have any pictures to post! Josh worked on replacing one set of gutters this weekend...which turned into a HUGE project, and he hopes to get all the gutters hung tonight after work. Keatin and I went to the Ames Aquatic Center yesterday for one last "summer fling." It was a gorgeous day and once she finally decided to go down the water slide, of course I couldn't get her off!

We are still working on potty training. She will go every time you put her on the potty...she just still has no problem with going in her diaper/pull-ups as well! That is the part we need to work on... :)

I will have Josh take a picture of me tonight...24 weeks along! We talked about it last night...and then we got tired... :)

week 2

I will start week 2 of work tomorrow. The students came last Thursday and Friday...this will be the first "real" full week of school. I was really tired every night last week...and starving by about 9:30 am each morning at school...oh, being pregnant. :) Keatin had a great week back at daycare...she transitioned to napping on her mat just fine and went pee-pee on the potty for Jessica (while staying fairly dry in between) lots of times! We got our carpet re-laid in the basement yesterday, and Josh hung new gutters over our garage today (with the help of his friend Andy).

A random Keatin story from yesterday that I HAVE to share... (Josh doesn't get the humor...I hope some of you appreciate it). :)
So...Keatin woke up from her nap crying & crying (pretty much the same mood she was in before her nap). I go in her room, trying to soothe her/distract her/etc.... The following is part of our conversation...

M: Keatin - mommy needs to take a shower. Do you want to come in the bathroom and play with your toys while mommy showers? (which, BTW, she typically loves to do)
K: NO!
M: Ok.
K: I still want cry. WWWAAHHHHH!
M: (swallows laugh) :)

SERIOUSLY??? She told me she still wanted to cry??? Girl drama... :)

A few random pics from the last couple weeks...

Remember the pinto beans/sensory tub???? Keatin still loves the tub...but the beans typically found their way out...as illustrated in the picture below. (It only took an hour to shop-vac them all up.)

New items in the sensory tub - elbow macaroni! These too have started to find their way out of the tub...but I swear she was really good for a few days. :)

Keatin "helped" me make some brownies on Thursday night... :) (I have a feeling this might have been me when I was 2 years old.) :)

Me & Baby Barber...22 weeks...which is now 2 weeks ago! AAHH - we are so bad with this picture thing!

Have a great week!

sneak peek

Yipee! The "sneak peek" of Keatin's pictures are ready - click HERE. She was a trooper on one VERY hot evening.

I love that the photographers share a peek...but it just makes me want to see ALL the pictures SO bad!!!!!

A Night @ the DeWild's

SO...Ames is still battling water issues. We have been unable to drink water out of the tap since Wednesday and until this afternoon, we weren't supposed to take showers, do laundry, run the dishwasher, and limit toilet flushing...that is how low the water supply was after the flooding/water main breaks.

Yesterday after Keatin's nap, we headed over to Nevada, IA to the DeWild's house for an evening with water - ha ha! :) Josh came over after he got off work, and grilled steaks for everyone...so yummy. :)

Water related fun at the DeWild's included...
  • Megan taking a shower...a LONG, HOT shower...all by herself...SO wonderful. :)
  • Doing 2 loads of laundry.
  • Drinking a glass of water. :)
  • Washing supper dishes.
  • Keatin and Jack taking a bath together before we headed home.

Some pictures of our evening... This hug may look a little tight...I promise there was adult supervision. :)

Jack sat there and let Keatin play with him for quite awhile...his eyes were SO big.

(Why is this picture turned sideways? Urgh...)
Anyways...bath time for Keatin and Jack! Jack liked the company at first...then screamed his head off. :) Keatin was obsessed with being RIGHT next to Jack...watch the progression of the following pictures. :)

Jack was done...and look who played in his baby tub FOREVER...

Thank you to Lyle and Becca for "sharing" their water with us!

2 year old appointment

Keatin had her 2 year old doctor's appointment this morning. I honestly think this was the first time we had set foot in the pediatrician's office since her 18 month appointment...which is CRAZY because we were there CONSTANTLY before her tubes were put in!

I have it written in Keatin's baby book that Dr. Paschen said she was "perfect" when she was an infant...and he used those exact words again today. :) He also made the comment to the effect of - "Well, obviously her speech is developing quite well" as she CHATTED and CHATTED the whole time he was seeing her. She was SUCH a good girl, and so funny. She kept laying down on the table and telling Dr. Paschen - "check ears." :)

She weighed in at 26 pounds, 12 ounces - 50th percentile. (I predicted between 26-27 pounds before we went). And she was 35 3/4 inches tall - 90th percentile! I KNEW she looked tall compared to some other kids! :) She also got one shot in her arm, one prick of the finger, AND her flu/H1N1 combination shot/nose mist...so we don't have to do that later. Aunt Jen happened to be driving through town, and she went with us...she spent most of the time giggling at Keatin. :)

I walked out thinking - WOW...I have a 2 year old! I am SO proud of the little "girl" she is becoming...and love her to pieces. :)

ON A SIDE NOTE...
  • We had Keatin's 2 year pictures taken on Monday evening. When the photographers post a "preview" on their blog, I will give you the link to check it out. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! (Click HERE to take a walk back in time and see her 1 year pics.) :)
  • Josh and I ripped up the carpet in our spare bedroom in the basement last night. It was still wet, and we knew the only way to get it DRY, DRY was to get it up so the pad could air out...which turned into the pad completely ripping and Josh carrying it in pieces to the curb. :( SO...our carpet is draped over chairs/tubs in the main room of our basement drying...the cement floor is drying...and eventually, we will have to get a new pad/get the carpet re-tacked down. Luckily, the only room that is wet is the bedroom area. Please pray for NO MORE RAIN in Ames.

happy birthday

This is Keatin singing "Happy Birthday" to herself on Saturday. I meant to include it in the other post...forgot!

ames

If you don't live in Iowa, you might not know...it has been raining and storming here...A LOT. Our days have been HOT, HOT....like over 100 degrees. But the last 3 nights, it has STORMED...and RAINED. Monday morning, I found a little bit of water in our storage room in the basement...and the carpet is damp in one spot in the basement bedroom. SO...we have been running the dehumidifier and 2 fans nonstop since. Was drying up pretty good yesterday...until it rained again last night. More water in the storage room this morning, and the carpet is pretty damp again in the same spot. Our sump pump is dry...I guess the water is coming up through some cracks in the floor...

BUT...I think we are LUCKY compared to some.

Check the photos below we took this morning on Josh's phone on our way to my doctor's appointment...which we never made it to...after driving around town for 45 minutes...and finally giving up - there were NO roads we could get through to get to the doctor's office.

We are completely fine, and our basement will survive. :) I am supposed to go to school for a few hours in the morning...we will see...Hwy. 30 is completely under water.

This is the spillway/cement creek less than a block from our house.

Taken from our car...we were on University Blvd. near Reiman Gardens...this is one of the parking lots by Jack Trice.

Stange Road, headed out to Somerset. The golf course is on the left...

Lincoln Way. Maple/Willow/Larch are the dorms on the left.

Hilton Coliseum.

The alumni center that is by one of the Hilton parking lots.

Josh's phone

Josh got a new, fancy phone...he has been taking lots of pictures and videos on it. He wanted to share a few of his favorites. Check it out!

He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES this video...it is really kind of cute how much he likes it. :) Keatin gets her rhythm from her daddy. (wink, wink)

2

Keatin is 2!!!!! Where has the time gone????? As I am sitting here, I just can't believe that it was 2 years ago we welcomed this little person into our lives...WOW!

Keatin's birthday was on Saturday, August 7th...and we spent the whole day doing things in Omaha that a 2 year old would love. :)

Went to the Omaha Children's Museum in the morning, and Keatin had SO much fun!

There was a traveling Clifford exhibit while we were there...and I thought for sure she would LOVE the big doggie. Honestly, I don't think she even noticed Clifford...but she loved this fake car/truck he was next to. She spent A LOT of time driving with various family members along for the ride. :)

Listening to a Clifford story with Grandma...

Downstairs at the museum, behind yet another steering wheel...a John Deere tractor!

Shopping at the "kid-sized" grocery store.

After lunch and a nap, we were ready for more partying at Jen & Joey's new house!

Just so happens...Jen & Joey had a block party on their block the same day as Keatin's birthday...and look what appeared mid-afternoon...a big, spider jump house! Although Keatin was initially scared of the spider, she did eventually get in...and of course, we couldn't get her out!

My good friend from Creighton, Sarah, and her husband (Jesse) and daughter (Rory) came over to join in the fun. Keatin LOVED having another "little person" to play with. :)

Just had to take a picture of the girls getting ready for supper. :)

Time for presents! Rory even helped out when Keatin got distracted. :)

Joey, Jen, Grandpa, Grandma, Keatin, myself, and Josh!

Keatin's Elmo birthday cookie...she dug right in!

More fun at the children's museum... :)
