I think I did it!

OK - video was too big for BLOG...but not too big for YouTube (he he - I am so tricky)! Copy and paste the link below to watch Keatin "playing." :)

A few more pics...

So...I have an ADORABLE video I took of Keatin a few hours ago, but I think it is too big or something to upload...so I am going to work on it, but here are a few pics for now. As you can tell, Keatin likes lounging with her daddy at nighttime...and mom likes it too - for the break, and just watching them bond. :)

My new exciting news (or at least I think it is exciting)...I have laid Keatin down in her crib SEVERAL times when she is still awake or starting to fuss...and she has been able to calm herself and fall asleep (with the mobile and music going). In fact, today she woke up in her carseat after our walk and in the swing later in the day...and both times was fussing...and I laid her in her bed...and it was almost like she preferred to do that. I know...not all that exciting, but to this first time mom...all these little victories towards helping her be a good sleeper are exciting!

I will continue to work on the video...

World's Best Husband/Dad

I must say...I have one wonderful husband. He has been dreaming up this little project since we first found out I was pregnant... For 9 (10) months, he would make me stand by the clock in our living room almost EVERY day so he could take a picture of my tummy...and in the end, this is what he made. I think this video is so neat, and Josh is so proud... :) You can either watch it through the blog, or there is a link to watch it on You Tube as well (JOSH & I THINK THE YOU TUBE LINK IS BETTER BECAUSE YOU CAN MAKE THE VIDEO FULL SCREEN). Brings tears to my eyes... (Sorry about the picture pixels...something with the video program/our internet...)

7 pounds, 13 ounces!!

We had to go back to the pediatrician today since Keatin was 1 ounce short of her birth weight at our 2 week appointment last week. Have no fear...as of today, our little peanut weighs 7 pounds, 13 ounces...11 more ounces than she weighed last Wednesday! We were shocked! Anyways, she has been a bit more fussy and has been eating more...so maybe she is going through a growth spurt or something. Needless to say, we were some proud parents! :) (And can I tell you, as I sit here typing this, I can hear her filling her pants across the room...she is VERY good at that!) :)

Below are some pics from the last several days...Keatin and Dad lounging on the couch, Keatin and Mom, Keatin in her new outfit and bow from Jenni, and then Keatin and Troy Wilshusen (we went to Megan and Todd's on Saturday night and had dinner/hung out - it was a good time). :)

Funny video!

OK - Josh is going to KILL me, but this was too funny not to pass on. This was Josh and Keatin, last night...Daddy was calming down our little angel - and believe it or not, she liked this dance they did together!

2 weeks old!

I honestly cannot believe Keatin is already 2 weeks old! WOW... We went for her 2 week pediatrician visit on Wednesday and he was super nice. She was 1 ounce short of her birth weight...he wasn't overly concerned, but we will go back on Monday to make sure she has gained that 1 ounce. Keatin, Crimson, and I went for a long walk this morning, and I was able to take off the steri-strips that were on my incision.

Thanks again to everyone who continues to call and send well wishes - we are still adjusting to being parents, but can't imagine loving anything as much as we love her. :)

We survived the wedding...

Hello again everyone! We are back from our Storm Lake wedding weekend... It was a wonderful time, but very exhausting as well. Thank you to everyone who has been calling, e-mailing, and/or mailing cards/gifts. We have such thoughtful friends and family - we truly are blessed. Keatin is just an amazing gift in our lives - we grow to love her more and more each day.

We went back to the pediatric orthopedic doctor today in Des Moines. Keatin's hips are dislocated from being in the breech position, and she has been wearing a harness/brace since last Monday. Today he just checked how the brace was fitting, adjusted it a bit, and moved her hips around some again. He said everything with the brace seemed to be working the way it should, and we go back in 2 weeks again.

I apologize it has taken me so long to get more photos uploaded...Keatin has had a busy first 11 days of her life. :) Below is a link to check out some more photos...there are over 100 - guess we are some proud parents. :) Enjoy!

Keatin is home...

OK - I have been trying to get the hundreds of photos we have of our little girl uploaded, and am not having NO luck! SO - instead of frustrating myself further, I am going to go with the few I have below...and will work on it more tomorrow. We got to bring Keatin home from the hospital this morning...it was so cool to bring our daughter home. We have been lounging around today, and are now watching some Olympics and the Cubs/Cardinals game. Josh dressed Keatin in her Cardinals onesie...will try to pass on the pictures of the proud daddy with his daughter tomorrow. :)

We are loving having this amazing angel in our lives. As I type this, it truly brings tears to my eyes to watch the way Josh just looks at her...and talks to her...the way he gently holds her...or is so proud of the way he can swaddle her up in blankets. He has been an AMAZING dad so far...he is a natural. Crimson is still adjusting...not sure quite what to think, and comes running to Keatin when she cries. We have to do to a pediatric orthopedic doctor in Des Moines tomorrow for Keatin - she has some clicking/displacement in her hips because of the way she was positioned in the womb, so we think she has to get a brace to wear around her hips to help fix the problem. This is a very common problem for babies who were breech...I think Josh is not sure what to think, and I am hoping the doctor can answer some of his questions tomorrow. I had the some problem when I was born...

Thank you to EVERYONE who has sent their congratulations and well wishes. Like I said, the last few days have almost seemed like a dream...we feel SO blessed, and it has been so fun to meet our daughter. More pictures to come...

Our little angel has arrived...

As of 12:21 pm yesterday (8-7-08), Josh and I are pleased to announce the birth of our daughter, Keatin Marie Barber. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandma & Grandpa Barber, Grandma & Grandpa Petersen and Aunt Bri made the long haul from all parts of the world (Storm Lake and Omaha). Megan is coming around nicely and is beginning to hold down water, chicken broth and some 7up. Keatin is enjoying the company of her family and can't wait to meet our friends.

Tomorrow is the big day!!!

By popular demand (AKA - Katie Walsh made me promise to show one more pic of my tummy), here is one last look at this beast of a stomach before our baby comes out! :) We head to the hospital tomorrow morning at 10 am, with the surgery scheduled for around noon. Check back tomorrow night or Friday, and hopefully you can see pictures of our adorable son/daughter! :)
