OK - I am hoping the link below works (you might have to copy and paste it into your web browser)... Keatin's babysitter, Jessica, just e-mailed it to me... Made me smile and smile. :)

Hoppy Easter! :)

aunt jen & uncle joey...

...came for the weekend! We did a lot of BB watching, but also had plenty of time to play video games (if your name is Josh or Joey), go shopping (the girls), go to church, and just play-play-play! Jen and I bought Keatin several new outfits at the mall...below she is trying on one of the summer outfits Jen bought her. :) (No - the shirt and shorts do not go together.) :)

We decided to head outside mid-morning today to get some fresh air and play. Josh and Joey were playing catch with a football...until Josh threw it in a tree. So, Joey, in an effort to get it down, threw the volleyball at the football...and yes - you know what happened next (see below).

Josh then dug out his basketball to get the football and/or volleyball down...yes, yes - I am sure you can predict what happened to the basketball.

SOOOOO....out came the really long piece of wood the boys found in the garage...but not quite long enough to actually reach the top of the tree...so they started throwing it, javelin-style. :) (Notice Keatin and I in the background, thoroughly entertained by the whole situation). :)

And, drum roll please...Keatin peed in the potty again tonight!!!!! (And I grabbed the camera quick!) This time, she was "bonding" with daddy in the bathroom...he was sitting on the big potty reading books to Keatin, while she was "focusing" on the little potty...and yipee - she got the job done! Here they are depositing the contents of the little potty into the big potty...

The potty is all gone!! (No worries...we had already cleaned this out.) :)

Keatin got into the celebration this time! She was SO excited - too cute!

We are heading to Chicago for 4 days over Easter weekend...can't wait!

Pee-Pee!

A momentous event at our house last night...Keatin went pee-pee in her small potty for the 1st time! Woo-hoo! I didn't have a camera handy...so I didn't get any pictures...but oh - I was SO excited! I might have scared Keatin a little with my celebration...but she joined in with the cheering and dancing after a bit. :) My baby is officially growing up...

baby stroller...in action :)

Not that either of these videos are too exciting...but for those of you who like to see Keatin in "action"...here you go! :)

company

We had company this weekend! My good friend from Creighton - Sarah, her husband Jesse, and their 11 month old daughter Rory came for some March Madness fun! We did a lot of playing and watching BB...and how about them UNI Panthers!

I tried to get some good pics of the girls...TRIED. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Petersen also stopped by today for a few hours...they were in Des Moines at a wedding. They came bearing an Easter Basket for Keatin...which she loved! It was full of coloring books, sidewalk chalk, a play stroller, a play dog kennel, a gardening kit, and a spring outfit. Here she is experimenting with the sidewalk chalk...

And the baby-doll stroller...

Which Keatin REFUSED to put any babies in... She REALLY enjoyed pushing it around tonight...but only with goldfish crackers in it...

Or herself. :) Hope this thing is made of steel...pretty sure it isn't built to consistently hold 25 pounds!

Keatin is also LOVING the doggie kennel. Here she is talking to her doggies!

lucky

I have been a lucky girl this week... Maybe it was the luck of the Irish? :)

It has finally felt like spring...and was able to pick up Keatin from daycare with the stroller 3 different times this week. More time outside...how lucky!

Josh surprised me with a Panera breakfast on St. Patrick's Day (he got up and went to the gym at 545...and came back with a yummy coffee and bagel). It was VERY nice. :)

Tonight...after we had gone to the park with Keatin (see pictures below)...I see our babysitter walking up the driveway...I was confused...but Josh had secretly asked her to come so we could go out for dinner. It was SO nice! We were able to eat, actually talk to each other, and watch the UNI NCAA BB game too!

Now, we are just laying around...watching more BB...analyzing our brackets (I am beating Josh so far)... Aaahhh - I am a lucky girl. :)

talking

Keatin is talking MORE and MORE these days. As I was cleaning up after supper last night, I could hear Josh and Keatin saying the alphabet/letters in the basement. This morning, I got Keatin out of bed and she sneezed...and immediately said to herself - "bess you." But my recent favorite...I was helping Keatin get her coat off when we got home last night, she put her finger on my chest and said - "Tee-tin's ma-me." Aaahhh - I love it! :)

stitches and friends

The weekend started out with stitches. With a toddler at our house, you may be thinking she is the one who needed some stitches. Nope - it was Josh...

Josh and I went to play volleyball on Friday night - Lyle came to the house to "watch" Keatin (AKA - she was already asleep and he played video games). At the VB game, Josh dove for a ball and one of the other teammates landed on his head...slamming his chin into the gym floor. The result? A HUGE gash on the bottom of Josh's chin that was bleeding all over the place... Since I am the wife, I got to help him wipe up all the blood and put SEVERAL band-aids on his chin (that had to be replaced/re-applied several times)...because of course, we finished playing all the VB games. :) After VB, we headed home to Lyle...who told us both to go to the ER (he kept playing video games). :) I stayed at the ER for awhile...but came home around midnight so our "babysitter" could go home. Josh got home after 1 am...with a numb chin and 4 stitches. He has been pretty darn sore since Friday...and has to keep the stitches in until Thursday.

Today, Todd, Megan, and Troy came up to Ames for a few hours of playing and supper. SO fun to have them and watch Keatin/Troy play together! They even kind-of shared the Cozy Coupe for awhile. :) Thanks for coming Wilshusens - we loved having you!

storm lake...and some prayers

We were off to SL for the weekend...got our taxes done and just had fun spending time with all the grandparents. We even got to see 2 of our high school classmates and their wives/kids. It really was a great weekend...and wanted to include one picture of Keatin with Abby and Lucy...she LOVES doggies. :)

My mind and heart aren't really on my fun weekend though...they are with my secretary from school, Cheryl. She is wonderful...and amazing...and our school really does not "run" without her. The average person probably thinks the principal is the "boss" of a school...so NOT true (and I know my principal would back me up on this one)...Cheryl is the heart and soul of WM Elementary...she makes our school "work." Cheryl has been battling cancer for over 10 years. There is so much more I could tell you...but she just had some really important doctor's appointments at Mayo last Thursday and Friday...and things are not great. My heart is heavy for her/her family. Please pray for Cheryl...that she may find the strength to make it through this battle.

sweet faces

These are the sweet faces I get to look at every morning when I walk out the door for work.
My 2 most favorite people in the world (and my favorite dog).
Eating their breakfast together, giving me lots of hugs and kisses. :)

Keatin will not eat breakfast anywhere but her daddy's lap.
And he just scoops her up every morning.
And they share their cereal. :)

I love it. :)

~ potty ~

Went shopping yesterday with my good friend Becca (she is expecting in June and just found out last week she is having a boy...see the link to her blog - The DeWild Family). ANYWAYS, we went to Des Moines to look for some kid/baby stuff...and I got Keatin her first potty. We have been talking about getting one for awhile...lots of times, she will tell us before she poo-poos...and just thought it wouldn't hurt to have one around...although I have no intentions of truly doing the potty training thing until this summer.

Of course, the potty was a HUGE hit when we got it home...drug it around the house...played with the potty-collecting part, etc... Just had to share 2 funny stories...
1 - Keatin had taken the small potty-collecting part out (not sure if there is really a proper name for this our not). :) Anyways, a few minutes later, she grabbed it out of the kitchen and brought it to me. I told her to go put it in the potty...and she tottered off. I was talking to Becca...and Keatin came back with that piece to her potty...and I noticed her arm was all wet and the potty-part was dripping...she had put it in the "potty" AKA: the big potty. :)
2 - Later, she wanted to test out the potty for real...kept saying "potty" (or her version of how she says it). So...we got the diaper off, got the clothes off...and she was sitting on her potty...kept saying potty and pointing in the potty... Anyways, I was talking to my friend Ann on my phone while we were doing this....so I was distracted. Keatin stood up after awhile and said "all done." Fine...no potty in the potty, but good try. I was talking to Ann...and Keatin crawled on top of the big potty...which she does sometimes anyways. Next thing I know, she is sitting on the lid of the big potty saying "uh oh" and peeing all over the lid! Had to hang up with Ann...and clean up that mess! Of course, I was excited because she has the right general idea...just bummed I couldn't have gotten her to go in her potty and we could have had a potty celebration! Maybe next time... :)
