smiles

Will is really starting to smile, and I have even heard him try to coo a few times. :)

He tends to smile the most on his changing table...not sure why...I think he likes looking at the red curtains in his room. :) I tired to catch a few smirks on camera, but the only camera that was near was our old one...and of course, I couldn't snag any great pictures. (Isn't that the way it seems to work??) :)

I go back to the doctor this afternoon for my 6 week check-up...that can't be possible, 6 weeks already...wow. We are also heading to Storm Lake for the weekend...our first overnight trip as a family of 4...I am expecting to be exhausted by the time we get back. :)

So, this boy has some cheeks...they are getting chubbier by the day. :)

And in the last few days, I SWEAR he is trying to smile at his mama. :)

Although Keatin loves her brother very much, she certainly still enjoys playing with others who move a bit more than him...like her buddy Jack! The DeWilds were over last night for supper, and Keatin decided Jack needed to be "pretty" with her...and even hop in the lego wagon for a ride! Lyle was not impressed by Jack's dress - we thought he looked pretty sharp. :)

Will {one month}

Will - you are already 1 month old...seriously, where has the time gone?? A friend told me time goes SO much faster with the 2nd one - I think she is right! We got Will's 4 week pictures taken yesterday, and will post a link to look at them when it is available...

You have outgrown your newborn diapers - yesterday I broke down and started putting size 1 on you...they fit so much better.

Newborn clothes are too small - 0-3 stuff fits, but I think you have your daddy's arms...some of sleeves seem short! I would love to know what you weigh - I am POSITIVE you are going to be bigger than your sister!

You have very alert times every day and enjoy looking at lights, your baby gym, the blue water on your bouncy seat, or your big sister. You swat at toys that are dangled within reach!

You are tough - Keatin loves you to pieces, and you are very kind to let her "love" you up & down...even if it is a little much at times. :)

You prefer laying with your head elevated, not flat on your back. I can't put my finger on it, but mommy is pretty sure you have painful gas at times...maybe reflux or some type of digestive issue??? After you eat, you are typically pretty squirmy...you may cry, grunt, pull your knees up, or go stiff as a board. Sometimes you burp, sometimes you don't. During the night, you tend not to fall right back to sleep. I am debating about calling the pediatrician to see if he has any insight. We will see...

Most nights, I put you to bed anywhere between 9:30-11:00 pm. You are pretty consistently waking up anywhere between 1:30 and 3:00 to eat...and then again anywhere between 5:00-6:30. SO...not HORRIBLE, but mommy is still pretty tired. :)

You are strong and hold your head up really well. Sometimes when you are playing on the floor, I swear you are trying to roll over...although that can't be true yet!

You HATE baths and being without clothes - you SCREAM!

You are SO, SO loved. :) I love you little man...

christmas #2

We had our Barber Christmas over the weekend! G & G Barber and Bri/Tyler came to Ames on Friday night, and we spent the weekend celebrating Christmas all together. We opened gifts on Saturday morning (aka - Keatin opened everyone's gifts)...and Josh promptly used his gift money to go buy a Playstation 3...which then meant he/Tyler/Paul fiddled around with that all afternoon. :) Keatin and I got our hair trimmed, thanks to Bri...and Josh/Paul went to a 3D movie on Saturday night. Since Keatin and Will had everyone up before 6 am this morning, we were able to go eat brunch by 8! (Which when I told my mom that, she reminded me that isn't brunch at all...that is breakfast...ha ha!) :) It was a great weekend and so nice to spend time with family!

Josh has been home the last 2 weeks on FMLA and he has to go back to work tomorrow...he is dreading it...I kind of am too...it has been nice to have him around during the day. :)

Will is doing great and really starting to grow. Both Josh and I commented the other day that he has lost that newborn look already. :) His newborn diapers are definitely getting snug - I can't believe it! I swear Keatin wore those itty-bitty diapers for a long time. I really think Will is going to be bigger than her. We have his 4 week pictures scheduled for Tuesday afternoon - I hope we get some good ones!
