sunny.saturday.sunday

In the Saturday and Sunday sun...
...Keatin, Will, and I went to a joint birthday party for our day care provider's kids. She throws the best kid-friendly birthday parties...puts me to shame. My kids had A BLAST...and after 2.5 hours, I had to DRAG them back home...covered in cupcake frosting, ice cream cake, paint, and pool water. Pictures below. :)

Will, Keatin, and Xavier - the birthday boy.

Will and Owyn - the birthday girl.

Sunday morning after church...we had a car wash. :)

And the rest of the day today was spent working on this house...it is ready to be sold. Any interested buyers out there? :)

Have a great week!

[thursday and friday]

Thursday afternoon: dance class for Keatin. :) Josh happened to have the afternoon off work, so "just the girls" were able to go for the first class of the summer. I sat in and watched...but have a feeling that I will be playing in the hallway with Mr. Will the rest of the classes. :) Keatin did a great job listening to her teachers...she just looked so old and like such a learner. I loved watching her doing something that I spent so many years loving myself.

Thursday evening: Tune Into Main on Main Street in Ames. They have live music, you picnic on the grass, and there are kids-friendly activities like a jump house and sidewalk chalk/paint/bubbles. We went a lot last year, and this was the first session of Summer 2012. Keatin and Will both LOVED the jump house and spent lots of time drawing on the cement with chalk/paint

Friday morning: Peterson Pit fun for Keatin, Will, and Mommy. Peterson Pit is just north of Ames...it is a very small lake with lots of sand for the kids to play in. Will was fearless and had to be watched very closely for fear he would just run out into the deep water. Keatin had a blast building sand castles and "swimming." Before kids, Crimson and I would spend HOURS at the pit...reading, sniffing around for other animals, and soaking in the sun. It was great to be back, with my 2 favorite companions. :)

Have a happy weekend!

terrific tuesday

It was a terrific Tuesday at the Barber house...terrific and busy! Keatin, Will, and I enjoyed the company of Jack and Reid DeWild all day long. Their mommy had a meeting to attend at her new school...and we got to play with 2 of the sweetest little guys around! It was a great day and I think all the kids had a blast...but man - is this mama tired! Props go out to people who have 4 children under the age of 3...hmm, maybe that isn't possible...but if you have twins or triplets, my hat goes off to you!

We started the morning with some coloring...

...and Reid ate his breakfast.

Once Reid was down for his morning nap...to the pool we went! Keatin, Will, and Jack played outside in our little pool/sprinkler for over 2 hours...their giggles and squeals were priceless. :)

We had to take a fruit snack break in the shade...

...and then the silly-ness in the sprinkler began! These 3 would get water in their mouth and spit it out...doesn't that sound like so much fun??? :)

How could I resist a picture of this? :) Dirt and all...

And while those big kids were napping, Reid decided he wasn't all that tired and deserved some alone time with me. :) These pictures crack me up!

Whew to Tuesday - have a happy Wednesday!

sunny summer sunday

On a sunny summer Sunday evening...while we were waiting for our steaks on the grill...we snapped a few pics on our deck. I remember Josh said - "ah, this is the life." :)

Oh - and this is Keatin's FAVORITE pasttime of the moment...coloring...coloring...and more coloring. She is getting pretty good at it...and she loves to color pictures for people. We talk about putting them in "embelopes" all the time. So far, I have gotten one set of pictures in an actual envelope and in the actual mail. :) She LOVES doing this...I guess there are worse hobbies. :)

Hope everyone has a great week - Happy June!
